‘Manchester City Agreed Deal With Enzo Maresca As Guardiola’s Successor’

Manchester City have reached an agreement in principle with Enzo Maresca to become the club’s next manager if Pep Guardiola decides to step down at the end of the season.

The development was revealed by transfer expert Nicolo Schira, who disclosed that Maresca has agreed terms on a contract running until 2028, with an option to extend for an additional year.

In a message posted on 𝕏, Schira wrote: “It is now up to Guardiola to decide what to do as Maresca is waiting.”

City’s hierarchy has quietly moved to secure a succession plan as uncertainty continues to surround Guardiola’s long-term future. The Spaniard has just one year left on his current deal and has been repeatedly linked with a possible exit after nearly a decade of sustained dominance in English football.

Club insiders view Maresca as a natural fit. The Italian is highly regarded within the organisation, having previously worked under Guardiola and played a role in the club’s coaching structure before moving into senior management. His familiarity with the club’s football philosophy and internal structure is understood to have strengthened his position as the leading candidate.

The potential transition would mark the end of one of the most successful managerial eras in the Premier League’s history. Since arriving in Manchester, Guardiola has transformed the club into a force in the dominant league and a consistent contender in Europe.

The 55-year-old recently addressed speculation about his future, insisting he remains focused on the present campaign.
