Manchester City Agree Club Record Deal For Elliot Anderson

Manchester City have agreed a club-record £116 million deal with Nottingham Forest to sign England midfielder Elliot Anderson.

Elliot Anderson, 23, is expected to undergo a medical before completing his switch to the Etihad Stadium.

City sources maintain the transfer fee is a straight £116m with no add-ons, according to the BBC, although other reports suggest the package could rise to £130m, which would surpass the £125m Liverpool paid Newcastle for Alexander Isak last summer and set a new British transfer record.

Forest rejected two previous bids before City returned with an improved third offer that finally secured an agreement. Personal terms are not expected to delay the move, with both parties confident the transfer would be completed once the clubs settled on a fee.

Forest are now expected to strengthen their midfield before the transfer window closes. Tottenham youngster Lucas Bergvall and Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi are among the players being considered as potential replacements.

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Anderson has remained focused on England’s World Cup campaign and is preparing for Saturday’s final Group L match against Panama.

“It’s pretty easy really, I’m just focusing on the present, I’m blocking it all out,” he said.

“I’ve got a plan and it’s to perform for England. I’m putting myself in the best position to cross the line and do that.”

Anderson joined Forest from Newcastle for £35m in 2024 and went on to make 88 appearances, scoring four goals. He played a key role as Forest finished seventh in the Premier League in the 2024-25 season before ending last term in 16th place and reaching the Europa League semi-finals.
