Guardiola Admits Title Race Out Of City’s Hands, Foden Warns of Final-Day Twist

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has conceded the Premier League title race is no longer in his side’s control, even after a commanding 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

Goals from Antoine Semenyo, Omar Marmoush and Savinho moved City to within two points of Arsenal with two matches remaining.

City face Bournemouth and Aston Villa in their final league fixtures, while the Gunners meet Burnley and Palace.

Asked about the title race, Guardiola said: “Depends on them [Arsenal].

“If they win two games, nothing to do, nothing to talk.

“All we can be is in there just in case. The last two games are tough.”

City’s focus now briefly shifts to the FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday.

Meanwhile, City playmaker Phil Foden believes the championship could still go down to the wire after a man-of-the-match display in the Palace victory.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the England midfielder set up goals for Semenyo and Marmoush as City raced into a two-goal lead before the break. Savinho sealed the win after a weaving run from Rayan Cherki boosted City’s goal difference.

“It’s a team game at the end of the day, if you want to win titles and trophies it’s about a full squad and everyone playing their part,” Foden said.

“The aim is to keep pushing and keep them on their toes. We’ve seen a lot of things can happen on the final day.

“I’ve experienced it many times when the game doesn’t go your way.”
