Arne Slot Confident Of Liverpool Future, Elliott Set For Pre-Season Return

Arne Slot says he expects to remain in charge of Liverpool FC next season as preparations intensify for the 2026/27 campaign.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that the Dutch coach struck a confident tone when asked about his future at Anfield.

“I have every reason to believe I will be the Liverpool manager next season,” he said.

Slot revealed that planning for the new season is already underway, with talks ongoing over summer arrivals.

“The plans for next season have been made, talks are ongoing between the club and new players, and I am involved in that,” he said.

The remarks are expected to steady nerves among supporters following the departure of Jürgen Klopp, with the club preparing to strengthen several areas of the squad ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Meanwhile, Slot has confirmed that Harvey Elliott will return to Liverpool’s first-team squad for pre-season after a difficult loan spell at Aston Villa.

The 23-year-old struggled for regular minutes under Unai Emery and managed only 284 minutes of competitive action during the campaign.

“He’s contracted to us so he will be with us at the start of the season,” Slot said ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League meeting with Villa.

The loan move had been designed to accelerate Elliott’s development, but Slot admitted the outcome fell short of expectations.

“I think for him, for everyone, it didn’t work out as he wanted it, as we wanted it and probably also how Villa wanted it, because you usually sign a player or bring him in on loan to use him,” he said.
