NFF Appoints Maikaba, Uwejamomere As U20, U17 National Team Coaches

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the appointments of Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of Nigeria’s U20 and U17 boys’ national teams, respectively.

The federation’s Executive Committee approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Committee, handing Maikaba the Flying Eagles role while Uwejamomere takes charge of the Golden Eaglets.

Maikaba returns to familiar territory after previous involvement with the national youth set-up. He once led the Golden Eaglets and also worked as an assistant coach of the Flying Eagles during the tenure of Paul Aigbogun.

The experienced tactician has built a reputation across the domestic league, taking charge of several top clubs including Enyimba FC, Wikki Tourists, Kano Pillars and Plateau United. His biggest club success came in 2017 when he guided Akwa United FC to victory in the President’s Federation Cup.

Uwejamomere steps into the Golden Eaglets job with a strong technical and analytical background. He has spent years working as a coach-analyst with the senior national side, the Super Eagles, and also contributed to the women’s national team, the Super Falcons.

He currently serves as head of the academy at Sporting Lagos FC, recently promoted back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). His development work includes roles with English clubs Millwall FC, Gillingham FC and Nottingham Forest FC, alongside a spell as head coach of Stormers FC.
