‘I Would Have Slapped Him’ – Charly Boy Opens Up On Public Confrontation With Rochas Okorocha

Veteran Nigerian entertainer, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has recalled his controversial confrontation with former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha.

Naija News reports that Charly Boy, in a recent interview, recalled the dramatic moment he snatched the microphone from Okorocha while addressing guests at his father’s burial ceremony in 2014.

According to Charly Boy, the former Governor was attempting to turn the solemn occasion into a political campaign platform.

The veteran musician made it clear that he still stands by his actions more than a decade later, stressing that he would have slapped Okorocha.

He said, “Mmhmm. Is that a crime? I for don slap am. He wanted to use my father’s burial as a campaign for politics. And you don’t do that. Not when I’m around.”

Charly Boy further said that Okorocha was asked to leave the burial venue after interrupting his speech.

He emphasised that the former Governor understood the situation despite arriving with security personnel.

He added, “And he knew he was in my territory. Even with all his bodyguards, na my territory him dey.”

In other news, Charly Boy recently slammed former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, over the comment about the administration of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti.

Sowore had said that what he saw in Aba, during the protest for the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, was ‘half-transformation’ and not a complete transformation as claimed by Labour Party members.

Sowore partly said, “I can confirm to everyone that Alex Otti is a failure, he is only doing half transformation in Abia State. I don’t believe in that.”

In response, Charly Boy, in a post via 𝕏, said Sowore is a green snake under green grass and a spy of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
