Hansi Flick Jokes About Real Madrid As Barcelona Close In On La Liga Title
Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick, stirred debate with a blunt and humorous swipe at Real Madrid after his side’s win over Osasuna on Sunday.
Speaking after the match, as reported by Fabrizio Romano on 𝕏, Flick was asked whether he would watch Madrid’s upcoming fixture. The German replied: “I will not be watching Real Madrid, that’s not for me.”
“If anything happens, they’ll let me know in our WhatsApp group,” he added.
The light-hearted response highlighted Flick’s insistence on keeping attention firmly on his own squad during the title run-in.
Barcelona edged closer to retaining the La Liga crown with a tense 2-1 win at Estadio El Sadar, moving 14 points clear at the summit and to within touching distance of back-to-back titles.
Flick’s side will be crowned champions if Madrid fail to beat Espanyol. Should Madrid win, Barcelona can still seal the title by avoiding defeat when the rivals meet on 10 May.
Saturday’s match in Pamplona was finely balanced until substitute Marcus Rashford delivered a precise cross for Robert Lewandowski to head home. Five minutes later, Fermin Lopez split the defence with a clever pass that Ferran Torres finished beyond goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.
Osasuna hit back almost immediately when Abel Bretones delivered a superb cross for Raul Garcia to head in, but Barcelona held firm to extend their league winning run to 10 matches.
