Antonio Rudiger Extends Contract With Real Madrid
Real Madrid have ended speculation over the future of defender Antonio Rudiger after confirming the Germany international has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2027.
The 33-year-old centre-back, whose previous deal was due to expire in 2027, has agreed fresh terms after lengthy discussions with the club. Rudiger had initially pushed for a longer contract but eventually accepted Madrid’s long-standing policy of offering rolling one-year extensions to senior players.
The Spanish giants moved swiftly to secure the future of one of their most influential defenders following the departures of veteran stars Dani Carvajal and David Alaba. Rudiger remains a key figure in the dressing room and is expected to play a leading role in the club’s plans for the 2026-2027 season.
Announcing the agreement, the club said: “Real Madrid CF and Antonio Rudiger have agreed to extend our player’s contract, which will keep him with the club until June 30, 2027.”
Rudiger quickly reacted on 𝕏, reposting the announcement and writing: “My club 🤍🤍🤍.”
Since arriving from Chelsea on a free transfer in 2022, the German defender has established himself as one of Madrid’s most dependable performers. His latest campaign, however, was disrupted by recurring fitness issues that required surgery and specialist treatment in London to address persistent pain.
Having regained full fitness towards the end of the season, Rudiger now turns his attention to cementing his place under newly appointed coach Jose Mourinho. Before returning to club duties, the defender is focused on the 2026 World Cup, with Germany preparing for its group-stage clash against Ivory Coast on Saturday.
