Victor Boniface Threatens Legal Action Over False Claim On FIFA Drug Ban

Nigeria international Victor Boniface has vowed to take legal action after a social media user falsely claimed he had been handed a two-year ban by FIFA for allegedly testing positive for cocaine.

The fabricated story, posted on 𝕏 by a user identified as Milli (@yk_milli), spread rapidly, garnering thousands of views before it was eventually deleted. The claim sparked anger among supporters, who quickly questioned its authenticity.

Boniface, who plays for Werder Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, responded publicly before the post was taken down. Writing in Pidgin, he warned the user, “Hope you get better lawyer. For ur sake I pray you get.”

The striker also shared a screenshot showing he had blocked the account, adding another pointed message: “You go think say na everything be play. Wetinx be ur size make tailor start work.”

The remarks have been widely interpreted as a clear warning that he intends to pursue the matter legally.

The timing of the hoax has drawn particular criticism. Boniface is currently sidelined after undergoing knee surgery that has ruled him out for the rest of the 2024-2025 campaign. In recent months, the 25-year-old has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of his injury layoff, telling supporters he had been “putting on a fake smile” for over a year during rehabilitation.

There has been no statement from FIFA, the Bundesliga, or any credible authority supporting the doping allegation. No reputable outlet has reported any failed drug test involving the forward.
