Super Eagles Set For Jordan Friendly As Falconets Face Malawi In U-20 World Cup Qualifiers
Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, are set for an international friendly against Jordan in Amman this March.
The fixture, billed to take place in the Jordanian capital, will form part of Jordan’s build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Middle Eastern nation is gearing up for its first-ever appearance at the global showpiece and views the clash with Nigeria as a valuable test.
However, Nigeria’s participation remains subject to FIFA’s pending decision on the country’s eligibility protest involving the Democratic Republic of Congo. The outcome of that ruling is expected to determine whether the friendly proceeds as planned.
Jordan, coached by Jamal Sellami, face a stern examination at the World Cup. They have been drawn in a challenging group alongside defending champions Argentina, Algeria, and Austria.
The friendly against the three-time African champions is seen as a chance to measure themselves against elite opposition before the tournament kicks off.
Meanwhile, Nigeria are also exploring the possibility of another high-profile friendly in March, with talks ongoing for a potential showdown against Iran. Should both matches materialise, it would offer the Super Eagles technical crew an opportunity to assess options and fine-tune tactics.
On the women’s front, Nigeria’s Falconets have been handed a decisive test in their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The team will meet Malawi in the final qualifying round in May.
The first leg is scheduled to take place in Nigeria between May 1 and 3, 2026, while the return leg will be staged in Blantyre between May 8 and 10.
The Falconets advanced to this stage after beating Senegal 3-1 on aggregate, showing attacking intent over two legs.
Malawi, for their part, secured passage in emphatic fashion, thrashing Guinea-Bissau 6-2 on aggregate to set up the decisive encounter with Moses Aduku’s side.
