Bruno Fernandes Puts Manchester United Future Talks On Hold Until After 2026 World Cup
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has said he will not hold any discussions about his future until after next year’s World Cup, insisting his full focus remains on the club and their ambitions this season.
Bruno Fernandes is preparing to make his 300th appearance for United on Saturday when they face Brighton at Old Trafford, a milestone that highlights his consistency since joining from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 for £47 million.
In nearly five years at the club, Fernandes has missed only 17 matches, with just three of those absences caused by injury or illness. Despite receiving a huge offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal last summer, he chose to stay and has since brushed aside further transfer speculation.
“As I’ve always said, I feel good here. I want to achieve my dreams still,” Fernandes said. “I’ve seen people talking that I already had an agreement to go next season. If the club has done that, it wasn’t made with me. I haven’t spoken with anyone. My agent also knows how I work. If he wants to talk to me, it will be after the World Cup. Until then, I won’t speak to anyone.”
Reports suggest his current deal, which runs until 2027 with an option for another year, includes a release clause that allows him to move abroad for around £56.6 million if activated early. But Fernandes has no plans to leave and remains deeply tied to United.
“My family feels very well here,” he added. “My kids love to go to school, they love the way they live here, even with the weather. We feel at home. When my wife asked if I’d achieved everything I wanted at the club, I said no. That’s why I’m still here. I want to win trophies and bring success to Manchester United.”
