Maduka Okoye Rejoins Udinese After Serving Ban – Nani

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye has officially returned to the Udinese squad after completing a two-month suspension linked to betting offences.

The club’s Group Technical Director, Nani, confirmed the news and expressed confidence that Okoye’s return will strengthen the team as they prepare for a busy run of fixtures.

“We welcome Maduka back,” Nani told Messaggero Veneto, in quotes shared by Tuttoudinese. “His presence strengthens us, but the choices are up to the coach, who has maximum freedom.”

Naija News reports that Maduka Okoye, 26, joined Udinese in the summer of 2023 and quickly became the club’s first-choice goalkeeper before his suspension. His performances earned praise for his composure and sharp reflexes, helping the Bianconeri maintain stability at the back.

Before moving to Italy, the Nigerian shot-stopper played for Watford in England, where he gained valuable experience in European football.

Although Okoye is back with the squad, Nani stressed that the final say on his return to the starting lineup rests entirely with the manager.

“The choices are up to the coach, who has maximum freedom,” Nani said.

Udinese’s next Serie A fixture is against Cremonese on Monday, October 20, and all eyes will be on whether Okoye features in goal. His return comes at a crucial time, with the club seeking to climb up the league table and regain momentum after a mixed start to the season.
