Onanuga, Aisha Yesufu Trade Words Over Sack Of Kano Governor, Yusuf

A presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga, and human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, have traded words on social media over the sack of Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State by the Court of Appeal.

Naija News earlier reported that the appeal court affirmed the ruling of the Tribunal, which sacked Governor Yusuf, the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the March 18 governorship election.

In a judgment delivered on Friday, a three-member panel of the appellate court affirmed Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the election winner.

Reacting to the court ruling in a post on X, Yesufu, a staunch supporter of the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, said the judiciary is on the path to destroying democracy entirely in the country.

She wrote: “The judiciary is really on the path to destroy democracy completely in Nigeria.

“In 2019, Kano people rejected APC, yet rigged magic was done, and now this again. When you take away the legitimate will of the people, you open room for the illegitimate will to be exercised.”

Reacting to the post under the comment section, Onanuga asked Yesufu to stop inflaming passion over her false narrative and advised her to read the Tribunal’s judgment.

He wrote: “Stop inflaming passions over your false narrative. Go and read the judgment of the lower court. Governor Abba Yusuf has a bad case.”

In a counter-response, Yesufu said her tweets are usually for citizens and for those who need to be attack dogs for survival.

She wrote: “My tweets are usually for citizens, not some transactional mindset and mentally captive fellows who need to be attack dogs for survival.

“Now run along and be a good boy!”
