The Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has warned that Nigeria is currently building a future of electoral impunity.

Issuing this warning in a statement released to commemorate World Philosophy Day, Peter Obi argued that recent political events were an indication that the people are building a future that would license the most despicable electoral acts.

He further appealed to the next generation of politicians to do things right.

“As Nigerians, we must critically think about our journey, confront the political challenges in our country and redirect our paths. As it is now, part of the future we are building for our country is that of electoral impunity and licensing of even the most despicable acts. Since our generation seems to have lost it, I seize every opportunity I have to appeal to those coming after us, the future of society, to abhor such indulgences and resolve to do things right,” Obi wrote.

His comment comes amid wide dissatisfaction with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its conduct at the 2023 general election.

Naija News recalls that President Bola Tinubu defeated the candidates of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and Obi to emerge as the country’s president.

Obi and Atiku had approached the judiciary to seek redress; the Supreme Court, however, upheld the election of Tinubu.
