Barcelona Goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen Suffers “Acute Back Pain”

The goalkeeper of FC Barcelona, Marc-André Ter Stegen has reportedly suffered an “acute back pain”, according to the head coach of Germany National Team, Julian Nagelsmann.

After a fair start to the season at FC Barcelona, Marc-André Ter Stegen flew to Germany to link up with his national team for the November break.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper was expected to be between the sticks when Germany takes on Turkey in an international friendly at 8:45 p.m. He was also expected to be in between the sticks when his country takes on Austria in another friendly on November 21.

Unfortunately, he wouldn’t be available due to the acute back pain as he is expected to fly back to Barcelona, Spain to commence treatment.

Coach Nagelsmann said: “Marc-André ter Stegen will miss both games because he has acute back pain”.

“He will fly back to Barcelona tomorrow. I hope he’ll be fit soon and get back to the pitch with his team”.

So far this season, Marc-André Ter Stegen, has made a total of 17 appearances in all competitions, conceding 15 goals and keeping 8 clean sheets.

He made his international debut for Germany on May 26, 2012, and has played 38 times since then.

Since July 1, 2014, Ter Stegen has been playing for FC Barcelona after moving to Spain from German Bundesliga club, Borussia Mönchengladbach for €12 million. His contract with Barca will expire on June 30, 2028.
