CAF Gives Update On Second Edition Of African School Football Championship

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the details of the second edition of the African School Football Championship.

The CAF African School Football Championship which started in 2022, will commence across the continent from November 24, 2023, and end in April 2024.

CAF has created six zones to make room for as many schools and African countries as possible. Those zones have different kick-off dates for the 2023-2024 CAF African School Football Championship.

The schools that fall in WAFU B will commence their zonal campaign on November 24 and end it on November 26. This zoner campaign will be hosted in Lome, Togo.

The schools that fall in the UNIFFAC zone, will commence their zonal campaign on December 8 and end it on December 10 in Sao Tome and Principe.

For those in the COSAFA zone, they will start their campaign on December 14 and end it on December 16 in Harare, Zimbabwe.

As for CECAFA, the schools in the Zone will commence their campaign in Nairobi, Kenya on December 14 and end it on December 17. UNAF zone will start their campaign on December 18 and end on December 20 in Cairo, Egypt.

Schools under the WAFU A zone will kick off their campaign on December 19 and end it on December 21 in Conakry, Guinea.

After the zonal unit phases, the winners of the zonal unit phases will converge for the continental phase in April 2024.

Note that 800,000 boys and girls from 28 862 schools across 44 countries participated in the first edition of the CAF African School Football Championship.

Tanzania’s Fountain Gate Dodoma Secondary School are the reigning overall winner of the girls section of the Continental edition of the competition. CS Ben Sekou Sylla of Guinea are reigning champion in the boys’ section.
