The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the Court of Appeal’s judgement, which dismissed all petitions against Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo’s re-election on Wednesday as thorough and deep.

Naija News reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran, and his Labour Party counterpart, Gbadebo Rhode-Viviour, had appealed an earlier judgement by the election tribunal in the state which affirmed Sanwo-Olu’s re-election in the last governorship election.

On September 25, the tribunal dismissed Adediran and Rhode-Vivour’s petition against Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat’s victory.

Reacting to the latest judgement by the Court of Appeal, APC chairman in Lagos State, Cornelius Ojelabi, congratulated the incumbent governor and commended the judiciary for the verdict.

According to Ojelabi, the appellate court’s ruling on the March 18 governorship election confirmed Lagos residents’ confidence in the Sanwo-Olu government and his team.

He said the ruling party, its leaders and supporters received the judgment of the Appeal Court with so much joy.

“I believe that the pronouncement of the court is a testament to Lagos residents’ confidence in our party. This outcome laid credence to the ruling of the Lagos State Elections Petition Tribunal, which was also in our favour.

“The APC as a party appreciates the due diligence done by the Nigeria judiciary to arrive at this conclusion,” Ojelabi said.

According to him, the affirmation is a pointer to the fact that the judicial system in the country has evolved, and the system can be trusted and relied upon.

“The judicial process was thorough and deep, as all the issues were delved into without leaving any stone unturned.

“We, therefore, commend them for this due diligence,” Ojelabi said in a statement made available to journalists.
