The PUNCH: The Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party on Sunday cried foul as Governor Hope Uzodimma, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, was declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship poll in Imo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission. The electoral body affirmed Uzodimma’s re-election, having won in all the 27 local government areas of the state.

The Guardian: After a pulsating suspense amid anxiety of cancelled results in some Polling Units (PUs), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last night declared Usman Ododo of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the off-cycle governorship election in Kogi State.

The Nation: Nigerians are spending more to buy basic living items, as inflation continues to erode disposable incomes, savings and investments. Economic intelligence reports by many economic and finance firms surveyed yesterday by The Nation indicated that continuing increases in costs of basic foods, logistics, energy and other living items have pushed up inflation.

Daily Trust: Amidst the clamour by foreign airlines to repatriate their trapped funds, amounting to $800m, no fewer than four domestic airlines have over $54m (N43.4bn) trapped with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Daily Trust can report. The money comprises foreign exchange forward paid to the CBN as well as payment for participating airlines in the 2023 Hajj operations.
