The PUNCH: After Saturday’s governorship elections in Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa states, indications emerged that governors Douye Diri of Bayelsa State and Hope Uzodimma of Imo State were in early lead, as collation of results progressed. In Bayelsa State, Diri, who is seeking re-election, is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, while Uzodimma, also seeking re-election, is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress


The Guardian: It was another sad tale of massive vote buying, voter apathy, disenfranchisement and outright rigging yesterday, as the electorate in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi states filed out to elect their next governors. The development attracted condemnations from election monitoring groups, some of which called for the cancellation or extension of the polls in the affected areas.


This Day: The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed its staffers to declare their relationships with Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) in the country.In a memo signed by its Deputy Director of Human Resources Department, Christian Eze, the apex bank, according to Premium Times, also directed its members of staff to declare their ‘close relatives’ in the employment of the bank


The Nation: The Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Kogi State, Murtala Ajaka, yesterday emerged as a strong contender for the position according to the results of the off-cycle election in the state uploaded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on its Election Viewing Portal (IREV).


Daily Trust: The joint Arab and Islamic Extra-ordinary Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, yesterday demanded an end to Israel’s aggression against Gaza. The summit condemned what it called “war crimes and barbaric, brutal and inhumane massacres.”
