133 Cases Of Violence Have Been Recorded In Imo, Kogi, And Bayelsa Ahead Of Saturday’s Election- Security Analyst Reveals

Security analyst, Kabir Adamu, has revealed that 133 violence cases have been recorded in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa ahead of the off-cycle governorship election scheduled to take place this Saturday.

Making this disclosure while appearing on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Friday, Adamu detailed that Imo and Kogi had more cases of violence.

“My consultancy keeps tabs on security developments and incidents when they happen; as for political violence, since the beginning of this year, we’ve been keeping tabs on political incidents in the three states. As of this morning, we had 133 cases of violence, both political and security-related violence, in the three states; when we analyzed those 133 incidents, we discovered that Kogi and Imo topped the list,” Adamu said.

His comments come in the wake of an ongoing standoff between the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Imo state governor and allegations made by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dino Melaye against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi days to the off-cycle governorship election.

Naija News recalls that the NLC had grounded activities in Imo state over the treatment meted out to its president, Joe Ajaero, during its protest last Wednesday.

In Kogi, Melaye had earlier this week accused the ruling party of importing thugs from Lagos, Ogun and Oyo state into the state to intimidate voters during the election. Melaye also alleged that the ruling party had shared fake military uniforms with the thugs to give them the chance to intimidate voters legitimately.
