A few days before the governorship election in Bayelsa state, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Udengs Eradiri, has accused the party structure in the state of collecting bribes from River State Governor, Duoye Diri.

Making this allegation during an interview with Arise TV, the party’s governorship candidate accused the party’s leadership in the state of collecting N100 million bribe from the state governor.

“Just yesterday, they did a press conference after collecting N100 million from the governor, the sharing formula started creating problems,” Eradiri in the interview with Arise TV said.

He alleged that the party’s state chairman collected the whooping sum of “N100 million and said he sent N50 million to the national, though the national has denied it, and then the sharing of the other N50 million started bringing arguments.”

He further accused the party’s leadership in the state of requesting money before agreeing to go with him on campaign trips.

Naija News reports that his comments come just as the state edges closer to the November 11 governorship election. While Governor Diri is seeking a re-election bid, the former Governor of Bayelsa state Timipre Sylva, who currently flys the flag of the ruling All Progressives Congress at the poll, will be looking to return for another four-year tenure.
