The Inspector General of Police, IGP,  Kayode Egbetokun has charged men of the Nigeria Police Force to be good ambassadors as they prepare for election duties at the governorship election scheduled to be held this weekend in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo.

Making this disclosure in a statement on Monday, Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, detailed that the IGP made the call during his visit to Bayelsa state ahead of the state’s governorship election scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 11.

Adejobi detailed that the IGP charged officers and men of the command to discharge their duties without fear or favour, urging them to act within the ambit of the law during the off-cycle election.

The IGP later addressed Officers and Men of the Command at the State Headquarters, where he tasked them to discharge their duties without fear or favour and act within the ambit of the law during the Saturday election. The IGP warned them to be good ambassadors of the NPF always, even in the aftermath of the November 11 guber polls,” a statement by Adejobi partly read.

Naija News reports that the IGP also warned against electoral violence at the poll, urging all candidates to encourage their supporters to embrace peace regardless of the outcome of Saturday’s election.
