'To Err Is Human' - Police Takes Fresh Action On 'Policewoman' Who Recited National Anthem Wrongly

The Nigeria Police Force has revealed its decision to pardon an actress, Mercy Isoyip, aka Descushiel who went viral recently for singing the National Anthem wrongly at a public event.

Naija News recalls Descushiel who was dressed up in police uniform, led the recitation of the national anthem at the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Owerri, the Imo state capital last week.

The retreat, which was attended by senior police and military officers, had dignitaries including the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, and Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, in attendance.

During the event, which was aired live on Monday, the policewoman stood on the stage to render the National Anthem, but muddled up the lyrics, sparking outrage as many trolled her for making such an error.

After the public embarrassment, the actress took to her social media page to apologize to Nigerians and the Police authorities.

In an update on the matter, the Nigeria Police on Sunday revealed that the actress has been pardoned for the error.
