Insurgency: What Soldiers Are Getting Is Too Small To Take Care Of Their Daily Needs While Fighting - Ndume Tells Tinubu

Senate Chief Whip, Senator Ali Ndume, has said he is not bothered about the brand of vehicles approved for Senators by the National Assembly leadership.

The Borno federal lawmaker stated this on Friday during an interview on Arise News breakfast programme, Morning Show.

The Senate Chief Whip asserted that it is not a new thing to buy exotic vehicles for official use for elected officials, stressing that the decision is legal and constitutionally correct.

Ndume also defended the decision to buy exotic vehicles for lawmakers, saying that the state of the roads in the country is terrible and lawmakers need sophisticated vehicles to carry out their functions.

He said: β€œIt is not a new thing to be buying vehicles for official use for elected officials, it is constitutionally correct. No vehicle is manufactured in Nigeria and the state of the roads is terrible and requires sophisticated vehicles to carry out our functions.”

Recall that the National Assembly leadership had declared the purchase of exotic vehicles worth N160 million each for a lawmaker and bulletproof vehicles for principal officers.

The SUVs for each of the 109 Senators and 360 members of the House of Representatives are estimated at N57.6 billion.

Meanwhile, this has generated public outrage, especially coming amid a huge debt burden and at a time when an unprecedented number of Nigerians live in poverty.
