Wike Must Live With Consequences Of Making Fubura His Successor - Lukman

Some elders in Rivers State have accused supporters of Governor Siminalaye Fubara of using propaganda to tarnish the image of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Naija News reports that Rivers State has been enmeshed in a political crisis following the plot to impeach Fubara by the members of the State House of Assembly loyal to Wike.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, the leader of the Rivers Elders Forum (REF), Chief Ferdinand Alabraba, said supporters of the Governor are fueling the crisis by sponsoring propaganda against Wike in the media.

The leader of the Rivers elders called on Governor Fubara to take urgent steps to correct the false narrative against his predecessor in the media in order to find a lasting solution to the political crisis.

He also advised those encouraging Fubara to engage in a needless and fruitless battle with his predecessor to desist forthwith and allow the Governor to concentrate on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.

Alabraba also cautioned against the use of propaganda against Wike, saying that it would only compound the problem and deny the people the benefits of enjoying the democracy dividends.

The statement read in parts: “Having spoken with Wike and Fubara and looked at the scenario critically, we wish to once again express our gratitude to Wike for the audience and amiable disposition to continue to work selflessly for our State and accepting the mediation of the elders.

“We urge H.E. Sim Fubara to take urgent steps to correct the false narrative against H.E. N. Wike thus providing a window for mediatory talks and a way forward. Our pact with Rivers people is unbroken. They gave us mandate in the last election on the back of our achievements under H.E. Wike and trust that the candidate from our political family will continue these good works.

“We caution the new friends of Governor Sim Fubara to retract their steps before they throw the state into deeper crisis.
