Hardship: Some People Calling For Coup In Nigeria - CDS Musa

The Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa has revealed that President Bola Tinubu has no preferred candidates ahead of the Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo State governorship elections.

Making this disclosure during his visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Wednesday, the CDS said that it was the desire of President Tinubu to ensure that elections are conducted differently, without rancour or violence.

“It is from the president that his desire that henceforth elections should be conducted differently without rancour, without violence, without intimidation, and he has assured us  that he doesn’t have any candidate in mind, that we should provide that enabling environment so that voters can come out and freely vote who they want,” he said.

Musa however disclosed that he had directed his commanders to ensure that the November 11 off-cycle elections are conducted freely without violence.

Naija News recalls that President Bola Tinubu won the presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and many expected the president to openly proclaim support for APC candidates in the three states.

The party, which presently controls power in two of the three states where off-cycle elections will be held, will strive to retain power in Kogi and Imo, as well as topple the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa.
