AFCON: Video Of Tinubu Celebrating Super Eagles' Victory Against Cameroon Emerges

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the appointment of the ex-governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, as minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Naija News recalls that in the wake of Wike’s appointment as the FCT minister, many members of the opposition party had tackled him for accepting the ministerial appointment.

Wike, while defending his action, said the National Chairman of PDP approved the appointment before he accepted to serve in Tinubu’s administration.

The PDP Governors Forum, during a courtesy visit to the FCT Minister on Wednesday following the political crisis rocking the Rivers State Government House, lauded Tinubu.

The chairman of the forum and former FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, who spoke after the meeting, commended Tinubu for appointing Wike a minister despite being in the opposition party.

He said, “At the risk of being accused of flattery, we really appreciate Mr President and Nyesom Wike. Again, giving him this office at the FCT, which is like a state, in spite of the fact that he is still one of us as a PDP member, has shown the kind of leadership that Mr President has.”

Meanwhile, the Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government has allocated N12.7 billion for the maintenance of the presidential air fleet in the 2023 supplementary budget.

Naija News understands that the proposed amount is in the recurrent expenditure of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) with a total budget of N29.7 billion.

Other items in the budget proposed for the ONSA are the settlement of outstanding annual service legal agreement and bandwidth subscription for ONSA intelligence platforms (N4.7 billion); and operation MAD Thunder-NSA (N10 billion).

The ONSA said it would spend N2.2 billion as “part settlement of outstanding liabilities for procurement of treated/operational vehicles for State House and ONSA”.

The federal government also intends to spend N5 billion for the purchase of a presidential yacht.

It was learned that the proposed sum is under the capital expenditure of the Nigerian Navy’s budget.
