A former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Tolu Ogulesi, has reacted to the appointment of Marcus-Obiene Fernandez, a staunch supporter of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, into the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Naija News learnt that Tinubu had over the weekend appointed  Fernandez, special assistant on justice sector reforms and ICT/digital and innovative technology.

The appointment generated reactions from Nigerians who questioned Fernandez for accepting the role after strongly antagonising President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

Tolu Ogunlesi, in a post via X (formerly Twitter), mocked the ‘Obidient’ as Peter Obi’s supporters are fondly called, asking why he was deleting some of his old tweets online after taking an appointment with the APC government.

He wrote, “Leading Obidient @thefernist appointed Special Assistant to the President on Justice Sector REFORMS And ICT/Digital and Innovative Technology, and the first REFORM he embarks upon is a reform of his Twitter handle: locking account and feverishly deleting tweets.”

Tinubu Requests Speedy Approval Of N2 Trillion Supplementary Budget

Meanwhile, Bola Tinubu has urged the Senate to quickly consider and approve a supplementary budget of N2.17 trillion.

The Nigerian leader made the request in a letter read on the floor of the Senate during a plenary session on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In his letter, the President said the Supplementary Budget would support the provisional wage of N35,000 to workers, costing the federal government N210 billion and N400 billion as cash transfers to vulnerable Nigerians.

Tinubu said the supplementary budget would also shore up the country’s security and agricultural sectors, adding that the forthcoming off-cycle elections in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo would draw N18 billion from the budget.
