Top Dignitaries Attend ‘Baba Ijebu’ Kessington Adebutu’s 88th Birthday

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday joined several high-dignitaries at the 88th birthday thanksgiving and reception of businessman Kessington Adebutu in the Ikoyi area of Lagos.

It would be reported that Kessington Adebutu, also known as Baba Ijebu, on Tuesday organised his 88th birthday thanksgiving and reception at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos.

Among his wealthy friends who showed up to celebrate with him was the founder of Eleganza Group, Rasaq Okoya.

Also present at the reception was the lead pastor of Trinity House Church in Lagos, Ituah Ighodalo; broadcaster Bisi Olatilo; businesswoman and socialite Abiola Dosunmu.

Guests were treated to songs by gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori and saxophonist Beejay Sax.

Christian and Muslim leaders also gathered at Adebutu’s residence to pray for him.

Adebutu, a native of Ogun State, had worked as an employee at Cable and Wireless Limited (which later transformed into NITEL) as an operations clerk in 1956 before venturing into lottery business.

In 1963, he left the company to start up his own business and became a pool agent. The company has grown into a multi-billion-naira venture and has diversified into other businesses such as agriculture, petroleum, hospitality, manufacturing, entertainment, real estate, among others.
