Ronaldo Picks Favourite To Win 2023 Ballon d’Or

Retired professional footballer, Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima, better known as Ronaldo or Ronaldo Nazario, has picked Inter Miami star, Lionel Messi, as his favourite to win the 2023 Ballon d’Or award.

Naija News understands that Messi, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, and Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) Kylian Mbappe are among the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or this year.

Speaking, however, during an interview with TNT Sports, Ronaldo believes that Messi would win the award without any doubt after leading the Argentina national team to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

“The Ballon d’Or should go to him [Lionel Messi], without a doubt.

“What Messi did in the World Cup was special. It reminded me of the campaigns of Pelé and Maradona,” Ronaldo said during the interview.

Naija News reports that apart from winning the World Cup, Messi also clinched the French Super Cup and Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain before joining David Beckham’s club, Inter Miami.

Recall also that the former Barcelona captain finished last season with 21 goals and 20 assists in 41 games across competitions for PSG before he left the Parisians for Inter Miami as a free agent in the summer.

French news magazine is expected to announce the 2023 Ballon d’Or award next week.
