Former Super Falcons player, Desire Oparanozie has stated that she could venture into the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Desire Oparanozie stated this in an event dubbed “off in style,” which was organized to celebrate her retirement.

Recall that Oparanozie announced her retirement from football in September 2023 at the age of 29.

She bowed out of the game after a brilliant career that saw her compete in four World Cups and won four Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

To celebrate her contribution to the French women’s league club Guingamp, a bus stop was named in her honour in France.

The 2023 FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand was her fourth and last World Cup for the Super Falcons of Nigeria after making her debut at the 2011 edition of the competition in Germany.

Even though many were rooting for Oparanozie to represent Nigeria in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, she announced her retirement to the dismay of many supporters.

Before retiring, Oparanozie scored 22 goals in 35 games for the Super Falcons.

The Owerri-born striker started her football career in the Nigerian Women’s League with Bayelsa Queens. She relocated to Delta Queens in 2010 and began her European journey when she moved to the Turkish club, Lüleburgaz 39 Spor on loan in 2011.

In the 2022 season, Oparanozie made her Chinese Women’s Super League debut for Wuhan Jianghan University. But the injuries that dogged the last few years of her career forced her to retire in September 2023.

Now that she has retired from football, the 29-year-old has jokingly hinted that she might join the UFC.

“I would love to try out UFC one day now that I am retired from football,” she said.
