Senegal Has Shown Africa The Way - Ezekwesili Reacts As Opposition Candidate Leads Senegal Presidential Race

Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili has stated that she never bought a vehicle while occupying government positions.

She stated this while replying to a netizen who lashed at her for condemning members of the National Assembly over their plans to purchase new vehicles worth millions of naira for each lawmaker.

Naija News recalls that Ezekwesili had described the lawmakers as an ‘’incorrigible Bunch of Lawbreakers’’ over the proposed purchase of the vehicles.

Some Nigerians, however, accused Ezekwesili of being guilty of what she accused the lawmakers of.

Responding, Ezekwesili said she never bought new cars when she assumed office, adding that she asked the permanent secretary to fix the old vehicles used by her predecessors.

Speaking via X, she wrote, “Did-you-not-buy-cars-for-yourself-when-you-were-a-minister?”

“That’s what one suffering citizen had to say in reaction to my revulsion at the irresponsible and profligate purchase of luxury cars by @nassnigeria members amidst severe hardships facing citizens.

“Please find the Perm-Sec – Dr Aboki Zawa – that worked with me in both Ministries of Minerals and Education respectively and ask him that question.

“I did not buy any car for my use at both ministries. What for?

“I simply asked the Perm-Sec to repair any vehicle that was left behind by my predecessors for my use.

“I hope you can now rest.”
