Shehu Sani Reacts To Appointment Of 25-year-Old As FERMA Chairman

Former Nigerian lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has commended the appointment of Imam Ibrahim Kashim-Imam, as the Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

In a statement issued last week Friday evening, presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said the appointee is expected to serve for a renewable term of four (4) years, in accordance with Section 2(3) of the FERMA Amendment Act, 2007.

Reacting in a post via his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, Sani said there is nothing wrong with the President appointing the 25-year-old to head the federal agency.

The former Kaduna Central Senator said the state of Federal roads in the country shows that those old people appointed over the years have not merited the position they held.

Sani, therefore, counselled that the youths, and young people should learn to rally around the new FERMA chairman.

He said: “There is nothing wrong with appointing a 25-year-old to head FERMA. Just look at the state of Federal roads in the country and ask yourself if those old people appointed over the years merited the position they held. Young people should learn to rally around their own.”
