Europa League: Liverpool, Leverkusen Start With Big Win, See Other Results

Nigerian in-form striker, Victor Boniface has been named the Bundesliga Rookie of the month for the second successive month.

The 22-year-old Victor Boniface who joined the German Bundesliga club, Bayer Leverkusen during the last summer transfer window won the award for August and has done the same for September.

The 22-year-old outperformed Hoffenheim’s Maximilian Beier and RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simmon with four goals and one assist in the month under review.

He is currently the third highest goalscorer in the Bundesliga behind Serhou Guirassy of Stuttgart and Harry Kane of Bayern Munich. He is now in the running for a second straight Bundesliga Player of the Month award thanks to his current form.

Meanwhile, Victor Boniface has expressed his excitement over the opportunity of pairing with Napoli and Super Eagles’ talisman Victor Osimhen in attack.

Recall that on Friday, the head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Pasiero decided to pair the two Victors in attack in a friendly game against Saudi Arabia.

Unfortunately, the two prolific strikers could not score in the 2-2 draw. However, Victor Boniface had a goal that was ruled as an own goal.

Speaking after the game, Boniface said, “I feel good playing with him (Osimhen), really happy playing together. It is a long journey and I feel proud.

“It was a good game. Unfortunately, we did not get the result we hoped for but it is a training game preparing us for the tournaments ahead of us. We knew we were playing a good side with a very experienced coach but it is preparation so we keep working.”
