ISWAP Terrorists Invite Boko Haram Fighters To Gunfight In Sambisa Forest

At least over 100 suspected members of the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP) were reportedly killed in airstrikes in Borno State, North East Nigeria.

Naija News gathered that the insurgents were wiped out on Friday by the air component of the North East Joint Task Operation Hadin Kai of the Nigerian Military.

According to a counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, the airstrikes were conducted when the terrorists were meeting in the forest at Bukar Mairam in Marte Local Government Area of Borno.

Zagazol quoted a military source as saying that the airstrikes followed surveillance that detected a large gathering of terrorists in the enclave.

He said: “The ISR platform sighted a massive movement of the insurgents moving toward a location suspected to be a meeting point of the terrorists.

“The strikes were successful, scoring devastating hits in the terrorists’ position.

“The terrorists converged in the area to plan night attacks against our troops’ locations.”

This development followed airstrikes by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) that killed over 100 bandits in Kebbi State last week.
