Inter Miami forward, Lionel Messi, is not expected to be sent on loan at the end of the regular Major League Soccer season contrary to viral speculations.

Inter Miami was on fire when Lionel Messi joined them from Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer in July 2023. He helped them to win their first League Cup in less than a month.

Unfortunately, the 36-year-old Argentine captain sustained an injury that kept him out of football for almost a month.

Due to the injury, Lionel Messi has only participated in 72 minutes of MLS action since early September.

Inter Miami who recorded eight victories with the Argentine star, managed to record just one win without the record 7 times Ballon d’Or winner.

Things have gotten so bad that Inter Miami’s season is over and they are no longer in the running for the playoffs after losing 1-0 to FC Cincinnati on Saturday.

Due to this development, there have been speculations that Lionel Messi might go on loan to either a Saudi Pro League club or return to his childhood club, FC Barcelona.

However, the BBC quoted Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague as saying: “Messi will have around one month holiday, like other footballers. So forget any move to Saudi or similar.”

Lionel Messi is expected to take a one-month break after participating in Argentina’s World Cup qualifying matches against Brazil and Uruguay on November 17 and 22, respectively.

When the new MLS season begins in February, he will then return for preseason in Miami.
