Nigerian forward, Taiwo Awoniyi will not be available when the Super Eagles take on Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in international friendlies on October 13 and 16 respectively.

The Nottingham Forest hitman who was part of the players invited for the friendly games scheduled to take place in Portugal in the coming week, was ruled out due to a groin injury.

Recall that Taiwo Awoniyi wasn’t listed on the matchday roster for Nottingham Forest’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Saturday, October 7.

Ahead of the game which ended in a 0-0 draw, the manager of Nottingham Forest told the press that the Nigerian striker will be sidelined for a month due to the injury.

Before this injury setback, Awoniyi had scored three goals and provided two assists in six Premier League games for Nottingham Forest so far this season.

Forest coach said, “It will be different. He has been involved and been important to us. He picked up a groin injury in the last game that will probably rule him out for a month.

“We’ve got some options now from the summer signings and more players available to us. We’ve got Woody (Chris Wood) coming in and Divock Origi on the bench, who is getting up to speed.”

Aside from Taiwo Awoniyi, another Nottingham Forest player, Ola Aina, might not also be available for the friendly games due to fitness issues. He wasn’t used in Forest’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday, October 7.
