The coach of Akwa United, Fatai Osho, has vowed to beat Sporting Lagos in their Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 2 game on Sunday, October 8, 2023.

Ahead of the NPFL game that will kick off at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo by 4 p.m. later today, coach Osho said his team would use the game against Sporting to bounce back from their disappointing matchday one result.

Recall that Akwa United suffered a 5:3 defeat at the hands of Bayelsa United away in Yenagoa in their first match of the season, which means that they are condemned to win their first home game to boost the confidence of their fans in them.

Unfortunately, they are coming against high-flying Sporting Lagos, which recorded a 2-0 win over Gombe United in their NPFL matchday 1.

In the pre-game press conference, the Akwa United Coach said, “This is going to be our first home match in front of our fans, and we know that they deserve the very best from us because we have enjoyed tremendous support and encouragement from the Pastor Umo Eno-led government, who have put everything at our disposal to guarantee a hitch-free season.

“We are in good shape to go all out and give our best to ensure we achieve our target, which is to win this game for our beloved fans and the wonderful people of Akwa Ibom State.

“We didn’t get the result we wanted on match-day one, but we have put that behind us, and we are focusing on the game at hand. We have worked really hard since we came back from Yenagoa, and I’m happy that the boys have shown serious improvement in training and I’m confident that they will take that sparkling form into the match proper on Sunday.”
