Alex Otti Wins As Tribunal Delivers Judgement On Abia Gov’ship Election

Alex Otti’s election victory has been upheld by the Abia State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

Naija News reports that the court sitting in Umuahia, the state capital, dismissed three of the prayers brought forth by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahaiwe, against Otti.

The tribunal, which delivered its judgement at approximately 1:20 p.m., ruled that Ahaiwe’s case against Otti of the Labour Party (LP) lacked merit.

Ahaiwe had contested the declaration of Otti as the duly elected governor by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Through his lawyer, Paul Ananaba, SAN, Ahaiwe had requested that the court remove Otti and declare him the winner, citing non-conformity with Section 77 of the Electoral Act, among other grievances. However, the tribunal dismissed all of Ahaiwe’s requests for lacking merit.

More Troubles For Naira Marley As Court Issues Production Warrant Against Him

A judge of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, has issued a production warrant against controversial Nigerian singer and record label boss, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley.

Naija News reports that this comes a few days after the ‘Marlian Boss’ was remanded in prison over alleged involvement in the death of his late former signee, Mohbad.

According to the statement issued by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday via its X handle, Naira Marley is being prosecuted on 11-count charges bordering on conspiracy and credit card fraud.

The statement reads, “Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, October 5, 2023, issued a production warrant against Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley.”

NNPC Speaks On Plan To Increase Petrol Price

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited on Friday spoke on the plan to increase the price of petrol.

There had been reports that the landing price of the Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, jumped from N651/litre to N720/litre.

According to Punch, many petroleum products depots are currently deserted due to a lack of products caused by foreign exchange rate volatility, as the landing cost of petrol, has increased to N720/litre.

Petroleum products dealers also stated that filling stations were shutting down daily in large numbers, as it was becoming increasingly tough to run the business. They said this could lead to widespread fuel scarcity in the coming months.

The Lagos State Police Command has revealed the sequence of events that directly accounted for the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad.

Naija News reports that the police disclosed this at a press briefing on Friday.

From investigation so far conducted, the sequence of events that directly occasioned the death of Mohbad and the suspects directly involved have been established as follows:

On 10th September 2023, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad) attended a musical concert at Ikorodu Town Hall at about 2100hrs on the invitation of Soso Soberekon to promote De-General Bitters beverages. Mohbad arrived the venue of the event at about 1900hrs in company of his wife, Mrs Cynthia Omowumi Adebanjo and their 5months old baby; his childhood friend Ibrahim Oluwatosin Owoduni (Prime Boy), and Mohbad’s Personal Assistant, Adeyemo Boluwatife (Darosa) all of whom were in the Prado Jeep which was hired by Mohbad for the event and driven by Fidelix Esanbor.

Others that accompanied Mohbad in separate vehicles include Ayobami Sadiq (Spending), Aduragbemi Shedrack Aloba, Mohbad’s younger brother; Ajisegiri Sultan Ayobami, Mohbad’s DJ; Aderinto Fawas Ademola (Adewest), Mohbad’s friend, and Olanrewaju Idris Adedoja (OG), his Photographer. Other musical acts that performed along with Mohbad at the show included Zlatan, Seun Kuti, and DJ Fokati.

Abducted Ondo Church Members Regain Freedom

Unknown gunmen have released kidnapped choir members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke Igan, Akure, Ondo state, abducted a week ago.

Recall that choir members of the church were abducted along Ifon-Benin road in Ose Local Council Area of the state on their way to a funeral ceremony.

The abductors, therefore, demanded N50 million ransom for the release of the remaining 17 victims after eight of the 25 abducted narrowly escaped from the kidnappers’ den last week Saturday.

Speaking to reporters on Friday in Akure, a church member said the remaining victims were released by their abductors late Thursday night after the payment of ransom.

The church member stated that a huge amount of money was paid by the church and the families of the victims as ransom before they were released.

According to Afolabi, a mixup at Chicago State University (CSU) is the reason President Tinubu’s certificate indicates female.

Afolabi made this claim during an interview on Channels TV on Friday.

‘Wike, Okocha, Others Can Not Remove Rotimi Amaechi From APC’

The crisis in the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a new twist following moves by a faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, calling on the party’s national leadership to sideline a former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and his loyalists.

Naija News reports that Wike’s faction, led by Tony Okocha, had made the call when he led some party members on a visit to the APC national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Thursday.

Okocha accused Amaechi of striking a deal with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25 poll, Atiku Abubakar, before the election and directed APC members during a meeting to campaign and vote for the former vice president.

He also appealed to the Ganduje-led National Working Committee (NWC) that whatever appointment or benefit the party wishes to allot to Rivers APC should pass through Wike, a former governor of Rivers State who is a member of the PDP.

Peter Obi Responds To Atiku’s Call To Fight Tinubu Over ‘Forged’ Certificate

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has reacted to the invitation of his colleague in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, to join his quest for “justice” in controversy around President Bola Tinubu’s certificate.

Naija News recalls that Atiku requested the release of President Tinubu’s certificate from the Chicago State University (CSU) to help him pursue his case at the Supreme Court.

The former Vice President sorted the credentials over the suspicion that the certificate Tinubu submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may not be authentic.

The spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz has reacted to the press conference of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Naija News had reported that Atiku during the press conference held in Abuja accused President Tinubu of forgery.

He further stated that he would not stop challenging the victory of Tinubu in the 2023 election until the Supreme Court ruled.

Police Declare Nurse Blamed For Mohbad’s Death Prime Suspect

The Lagos State Police Command on Friday declared the nurse who treated Nigerian Singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, a “prime suspect.”

The Command stated this during a press briefing in Lagos State while updating Nigerians on the findings of the investigation team constituted to unravel the circumstance that led to the Singer’s death.

The Lagos Police Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa disclosed that although the result of the autopsy conducted on the deceased is still awaited, the investigation team had covered more grounds to come to a significant conclusion.

The command said the team discovered, based on layers of investigations, that the Nurse who hitherto administered certain medications including an intravenous injection “went beyond her limitation” thus, leading to the direct or indirect cause of his death.
