Tinubu Attends Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary Military Parade (Photos)

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday attended a military parade as the special guest of honour in commemoration of Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary celebration.

Naija News reports the military parade was held at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa, Abuja and was attended by some top government functionaries including the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.

Others are the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwo-Ola, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the nation’s service chiefs.

Diplomats from various countries, including those of the United Kingdom (UK), Morocco, India, Turkey, Burundi, Ireland, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Argentina, Poland, South Africa, and Kenya were also in attendance.

During the event, President Tinubu took the national salute after which he inspected the abridged guards on parade mounted by the members of the nation’s armed forces, signed the anniversary register, cut the cake, and released white pigeons into the open air.

Tinubu Announces ‘New’ Wage Increment On 63rd Independence Day

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a provisional wage increment for civil servants as Nigeria marks its 63rd Independence Anniversary.

Tinubu announced in his nationwide broadcast delivered on Sunday morning, October 1, that for the next six months, the average low-grade worker would receive an additional N25,000 per month.

The Nigerian leader said his administration is introducing a provisional wage increment to enhance the federal minimum wage without causing undue inflation.

Tinubu expressed dismay with the saying of some citizens that “an independent Nigeria should never have come into existence.
