Iheanacho, Lookman Among Leicester Players With COVID-19 Disease - Report

Nigerian forward, Kelechi Iheanacho has stressed that he is not considering leaving Leicester City even though they are currently in the second tier of English football.

According to Iheanacho who started his career in English football in 2015 at Manchester City, he is happy at Leicester.

Immediately after Leicester City were relegated last season, the 26-year-old Nigerian forward was expected to be one of the players to exit the club.

Since he has just a season left on his current contract with the Championship side, Kelechi Iheanacho is said to be wanted by Everton, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, and Inter Milan ahead of the January transfer window.

However, Iheanacho has made it clear that he intends to remain at Leicester City and help them to return to the Premier League next summer.

“These discussions are always difficult when you have less time left at the football club, probably a year or two,” Kelechi Iheanacho told BBC Radio Leicester’s When You’re Smiling Podcast.

“I know the speculation, the report or ‘you want to stay, you want to leave’, I know that.

“Personally, I love Leicester City, it is a good place, a good football club. I’ve been here for a few years now and we went down, it’s not ideal, but we’re here now, fighting our way up.

“I’m here, concentrating on my football with Leicester City. Hopefully, we can get back up and everyone will be happy, I didn’t get to move, I’m here now playing for Leicester City so we concentrate on that now.

“Hopefully all the players that didn’t get to move as well will all contribute to the team for us to get up there which is the most important thing now. Everyone has to make their choice, but we now concentrate on the team and try to help the team and stay together to get up there.”

Kelechi Iheanacho moved from Manchester City to the Foxes in 2017 for a cost of £25 million, and he went on to win the FA Cup with Leicester in 2021.

Iheanacho has 57 goals to his name in 215 outings for Leicester, with his first in the Championship coming in last week’s 2-0 win over Norwich.

This season, the Nigerian has made nine appearances in which he scored two goals and provided two assists.
