Brentford Sign Nigerian U-20 Player, Benjamin Fredrick

Premier League side, Brentford, has completed the signing of Nigeria U-20 player, Benjamin Fredrick.

Benjamin Fredrick who is currently 18-year-old is expected to stay at the Premier League club on loan throughout the 2023–2024 season.

The Nigerian center-back will play for Brentford B this season if he receives international clearance on time. Another option is to make the loan deal permanent.

Naija News gathered that Fredrick joined Brentford on loan from Kaduna-based club Simoiben FC which is owned by Super Eagles of Nigeria winger, Moses Simon.

While announcing Benjamin Fredrick’s move to Brentford, Simoiben FC wrote on Instagram, “We can’t promise he won’t sting you.”

The youngster, who has previously gone on loan to Nigerian clubs, ABS and Nasawara United, is relocating to west London to gain more exposure at Brentford B-team.

Frederick helped Nigeria finish third at the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations and also helped the country advance to the quarterfinals in the Argentina U-20 World Cup earlier this year.

While announcing Benjamin Fredrick’s arrival to Brentford, the club’s B-team coach, Neil MacFarlane said: “Benjamin is a player who has been identified by our recruitment department and he’s a real prospect.

“He’s a very tenacious player who likes to defend on the front foot. He’s somebody we will look to develop through our games programme, and we’ll see how his development progresses throughout his loan. We look forward to welcoming Benjamin to the club.”
