Alex Iwobi could play the rest of the 2023-2024 season at Fulham as his current club, Everton have accepted the Cottagers’ transfer offer for the Nigerian.

Naija News gathered that Fulham are currently discussing personal terms with Alex Iwobi and the Nigeria international is expected in London today, September 1, for his medical.

Iwobi is eager to move to Craven Cottage, so accepting the personal terms shouldn’t be a problem for the player.

Fulham have agreed to pay Everton a transfer fee worth £22 million for the signature of Alex Iwobi who has just a season left on his current contract with the Toffees.

The 27-year-old versatile Nigerian star who could play as a centre-midfielder, winger, and sometimes, defensive midfielder, is expected to sign a five-year deal with Fulham which will keep him at the club until June 30, 2028.

Recall that Alex Iwobi became the most expensive Nigerian player ever sold when he joined Everton from Arsenal for £35 million in 2019. However, Victor Osimhen broke the transfer record in 2020 when he joined Napoli from Lille for €70 million.

Iwobi has been a key player for Everton over the past seasons, but after months of unsuccessful contract negotiations, the Goodison Park club has decided to part ways with the dynamic midfielder rather than take the chance of losing him for nothing in the upcoming summer.

Earlier this season, Everton coach Sean Dyche confirmed that Alex Iwobi was for sale since the club couldn’t extend his contract ahead of this season.

He said: “A few is circling a few of our players, Iwobi’s one of them.

“The obvious thing that I think has been apparent, though I had to spell it out last week, the club have to look at the business side of it; a player with a year left [on his contract].”
