IPOB: South-East Governors Meet In Enugu - [Photos]

All governors from the South-East states of Nigeria met on Thursday, August 10, at the Government House, Enugu, Enugu State.

Naija News understands that the meeting was the first of its kind among the sitting governors since they were elected and sworn into office on May 29, 2023.

The governors, who constitute the regional South-East Governors’ Forum, include Alex Otti (Abia), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo (Anambra), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Dr Peter Mbah (Enugu) and Senator Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.

The governors who were received at the Government House by their host, Mbah, are expected to deliberate on issues of insecurity, the sit-at-home menace which has dwindled the economy of the region.

It was gathered that the governors would also hold another meeting involving the nation’s Service Chiefs to discuss pressing issues bordering on possible ways of curbing insecurity in the South East zone.

Naija News learnt that one of the agenda of the meeting was the Monday sit-at-home being practiced in the region.

Though the originators of the sit-at-home, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have claimed they were no longer compelling residents to observe sit-at-home in the region.

Recall that IPOB is demanding the release of their embattled leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services since June 2021.
