Nigerian news anchor, Rufai Oseni has expressed his reservation over the number of ministerial nominees selected by President Bola Tinubu.

Following the initial 28 names nominated for ministerial positions, Tinubu, on Wednesday, sent 19 new names to the Senate for screening.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read the names out on the floor of the Senate after the screening of the first batch of names sent by the President last week.

The second batch of the list includes five former governors and some other popular politicians.

The new list containing 19 names now brings the number of nominees to 47 after the initial 28 names.

Reacting to the number of nominees, Oseni wondered how Tinubu plans on cutting down the cost of governance with 47 ministers.

Speaking via Twitter, he wrote, “In all of this Pres Tinubu wants to work with 47 ministers and we say cut costs of government. We are jokers.”

Oseni Mocks Tinubu Over Plans To Commence Operations On Port Harcourt Refinery

Meanwhile, Oseni, has mocked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over a promise that the Port Harcourt Refinery will commence operations in December 2023

Naija News reports that Tinubu made this known on Wednesday night during a meeting with various labour unions.

The meeting came after organised labour commenced a nationwide protest over what it described as ‘anti-people’ policies introduced by the Tinubu government since its inception on May 29, 2023.

According to Tinubu, the Port Harcourt Refinery would commence operations after the completion of the ongoing rehabilitation contract between NNPCL and Italian firm, Maire Tecnimont SpA.

Reacting to the promise to labour unions, Rufai Oseni, in a post via his Twitter page, made reference to Dangote’s private refinery, which was commissioned in May with the promise to start operations in June and still has not started.

Making a jest of the situation, Rufai noted that the Federal Government had directed local refineries on how the fuel prices will be marginally lower than the import, but they have refused to adhere to it.

He tweeted, “From waiting for a private refinery now we are waiting for Porthharcourt refinery in Dec. Hahahahahah.

“I repeat if our local refineries produce petrol and they buy in the Naira equivalent of the dollar for crude, the price will be marginally lower than the import. FG has directed them but they haven’t.”
