President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Cotonou to attend the 63rd anniversary of the Republic of Benin.

President Tinubu and his entourage, who left Nigeria on Tuesday morning, were received by Benin Republic President, Patrice Talon and key government officials.

The Nigerian leader was accompanied on the one-day visit by some of his political aides and six governors which include Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos); Seyi Makinde (Oyo); AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq (Kwara); Nasir Idris (Kebbi), and Mohammed Umar Bago (Niger).

Recall that President Tinubu had first met with Talon on the sidelines of the summit on New Global Financing Pact in Paris, France.

President Tinubu had drawn the attention of the Beninese leader to the need to review and strengthen cultural, trade and economic relations between their two countries, highlighting joint border patrols by the Customs and harmonizing regulations on the frontlines.

Both leaders later met at the 63rd Ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS held in Guinea-Bissau and recently in Abuja over the political development in Niger Republic, where the Benin Republic President invited him to be the Special Guest of Honour for the anniversary.
