The ministerial nominee from Taraba State, Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi has challenged a report claiming that the Supreme Court barred him from political office for 10 years due to forgery allegations.

He called the story false and an attempt to tarnish his reputation.

Through his lawyer, Ujah Israel Ujah, Danladi argued that the news aimed not only to discredit him but also to undermine his eligibility for the position nominated by President Bola Tinubu.

According to Danladi, the initial case that led to his disqualification from the Taraba State gubernatorial election in 2019 indeed occurred, but the subsequent appeal to the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court was dismissed as incompetent.

He continued to explain that after the Supreme Court’s findings, he sought to reverse the original Federal High Court decision due to lack of jurisdiction.

The court agreed with his claim and overturned its previous verdict on October 15, 2021.

Any remaining legal challenges were dropped, and Danladi noted that when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) questioned his candidacy for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship role in Taraba State prior to the 2023 elections, the case was dismissed.

Ujah concluded, “Giving all these facts, it is clear for the blind to see and audible for the deaf to hear that there is no subsisting judgment of any court in Nigeria disqualifying our client from either contesting an election or barring him from holding any public office.”
