There is currently a meeting of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, led by Senator Hope Uzodinma, taking place at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.

The meeting sees participation from Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state; Umar Bago (Niger); Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi); Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara); Acting Ondo state Governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa; Fr. Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Una Sani (Kaduna); Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos); Mai Mala Buni (Yobe); and Dikko Radda (Katsina).

This gathering comes just three days after the acting national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abubakar Kyari, declared the resignation of Adamu and the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

Additionally, it occurred shortly after an intended meeting of the governors with the National Working Committee of All Progressives Congress, slated for Wednesday at the party secretariat, was called off.

While the formal agenda of the meeting remains undisclosed, a source from the Imo Governor’s Lodge who spoke with Punch suggests it could be tied to the shift in the party’s leadership, the indefinite deferral of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings, and the administration of the ruling party.

“I believe that was why the earlier meeting of the governors and the NWC was cancelled this afternoon,” the source stated.

“The PGF members felt it will be better to have a private session to form a united front before meeting with the leadership of the APC.”
