Carney Chukwuemeka Insists On Staying At Chelsea

Nigerian-born English midfielder, Carney Chukwuemeka has insisted that he is not planning to leave the club this summer despite not playing regularly for the side.

Carney Chukwuemeka is a product of Aston Villa Academy. He joined the West London club on August 4, 2022, for a transfer fee worth €18 million.

Chukwuemeka who was born to Nigerian parents in Austria on October 20, 2023, and grew up in England, signed a contract with Chelsea that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2028.

Since he joined the club last summer, the England under-20 international has managed to play in 15 games in all competitions, 14 in the Premier League, and once in the FA Cup.

The 19-year-old English midfielder who is eligible to play for the Three Lions of England, Austria, or the Super Eagles of Nigeria, is yet to score or assist in any game for the West London club.

Carney Chukwuemeka is currently on tour in the United States with Chelsea who are now under the tutelage of coach Mauricio Pochettino.

While in the US, Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, shared his quotes in which he said he would have a meeting with Chelsea’s coach to determine his place in the team.

“I want to stay and prove to everyone what I can do and help the club”, Chukwuemeka was quoted as saying on Wednesday, July 19.

“We’ll sit down with Pochettino and so we will decide what’s best for me”.

Carney Chukwuemeka is expected to feature in Chelsea’s opening game against Wrexham in the Florida Cup on Thursday at 01:00. Also, on Sunday, July 23, Chelsea will be in action against Premier League side Brighton at 00:00.
