The Wimbledon final between Novak Djokovic and top seed Carlos Alcaraz will kick off at the All England Club at 14:00 BST later today, July 16.

Novak Djokovic, a 36-year-old Serbian tennis icon, and Alcaraz, a 20-year-old Spaniard tennis youngster, have been among the best players on the ATP Tour so far this year.

With his victories at the Australian Open and the French Open in 2023, Djokovic surpassed Rafael Nadal’s record of 22 major titles. However, he needs one win to equal Margaret Court’s record of 24 triumphs.

On the other hand, Alcaraz has the most victories in 2023. He however lost to Djokovic at Roland Garros and missed Melbourne due to injury. Alcaraz set a tour record this season by winning five ATP championships.

After winning the US Open the previous season, he is going for his second major victory at just 20.

He became the first young man to occupy the top position in the men’s world rankings after his victory in the United States earlier this year.

If Novak Djokovic manages to beat the youngster later today, the Serbian will have 24 major titlea and eight men’s Wimbledon titles, a record in the game.

“Judging by the performances we have seen from all the players, I think this is probably the best finals we could have,” Djokovic said.

“We are both in good form. We’re both playing well.

“This is probably the most anticipated finals I guess from the beginning of the tournament, from most of the people.”
